Pickforal Kennels offers an all inclusive gundog training experience for handlers and their dogs.
Indivdual tuition is readily available but a small group of like minded handlers can benefit from learning together.
The training days are built around the individual needs of the trainers and their dogs. For novice handlers and
their novice dogs the focus will be on the basics, but for the more experienced handlers and their dogs the
training sessions can involve work in the poultry and rabbit pens, simulated field trials and duck flights and, during
the season, a chance to shoot a few ducks over their own dogs.
The programme for the day begins around 10.00am with a welcoming bacon butty and a cup of tea and finishes
late afternoon with a two course meal and a glass of wine or beer.
The price per person is £75 which includes all training and all catering.
Alan has been training dogs for over 30 years. He specialises in general obedience and working dogs. It is true that
more time is spent helping the handler than actually training the dog! Alan has had a highly successful career as a
teacher and brings this skill to the fore in helping handlers build their confidence and apply tricks and techniques.
At the end of each training event, the handler goes away with homework! Practice makes perfect, but only if the
practice is carefully structured and completed in the right way at the right time. So, it's important to learn not only
about the dog's nature but also to understand how to adapt your training regime to maximise the dog's natural abiltiies.
Private tuition for owners is available at £20 per hour by arrangement.
Your own dog can be trained in house by Alan. Generally, for a labrador, cocker or springer to be ready to be introduced
to the shooting field allow up to six months training. For further details of costs, please telephone.
